Durn Cylex A’s ‘Fire in the Sky’ – Za’Sahar is the honoured one. Born to royal blood, they are blessed and also cursed with the call of the Octoron. Za’Sahar is a Durnite, one of the most ancient races known, and feared, across the stars. This is in part due to their ruthlessness and their mastery of the dark arts of Janda, a lost ancient civilization believed to have been wiped out during the War of Tribulation. Janda was a civilization, isolated to the former fifth planet in the Durnite terrestrial system, that thrived on their ability to alter time and space. With more than five rift ports in their possession, they were able to not only alter time and space with their own minds but, they could move within it at ease. The Durnites offered up their services to many species and planets, to provide defense, and alteration of fate when impending doom grew before them but, where this power seemed a relief to some, it had frightened others.

The Council of Janda was to meet with planetary rulers, to discuss the use of their abilities, where their desire was to continue their practices for the good of all species but, it was refuted. The other rulers and councils believed their purpose was malicious, noting the darkness and shadow that flowed behind every action they took whether in hostility or peace. The Durnites of Janda grew weary of the council’s distrust and began their changes. If they could not practice their magic outwardly, with freedom, then no other planet would be blessed with Mora either. This led to the War of Tribulation, which ultimately resulted in Janda being wiped off the map and erased from all star systems though, the minds of the Durnite people held the memory in their minds like a raging fire.

Unlike the Marthians, the Durnite’s traditions preached the practice of pulling the fabric of reality as if it were a curtain, or cloth, twisting it for their own ideal or purpose, and spreading it out once more. However, this is not so easily done, and cannot be mastered by all Durnites regardless of their magical prowess. Physical strength is necessary but, a mind imbued with great purpose and desire is a greater necessity. Years of dedicated meditation are taken in secret, for those capable of harnessing the true power of Janda, hidden from the planets surrounding them until they become a weapon. Durnites capable of astral projection and freeing the soul drop their consciousness, falling into a state between sleep and awake to initiate their actions. From such practice, they can weave through time and space, moving planets, stars, and with greater power, wiping entire civilizations out of existence, as theirs had been. Durnites capable of altering the rifts of reality also face the Rift Port, hidden deep beneath their planet’s surface, touching a place where many fear to tread unless they are commanded to. Rift Ports are often derived of their own being, shaping themselves to match their environment but, the Durnites are capable of altering this construct, shrinking it, expanding it, and even moving it short distances so that friend nor foe know its exact location once their movement is complete. Sitting amongst the tattered ruins of Janda, the Rift Port crackles in its shrunken form before one worthy of Janda’s techniques may stand before it. From there, they can attempt to alter its form, and show the other Durnites they are worthy of Janda’s practice.

However, though many have tried throughout their long lives of dedication to the Janda, there has not been a single Durnite capable of bringing back their fallen planet and restoring it to the glory it once held, including the many rifts that once sat upon its surface. That was, until Za’Sahar came into being. They hold the ideal that it is not one Durnite that can return the glory of Janda but, several, and through their consciousnesses combined, they hold the power to bring forth the power of Janda; and not only take grip of the worlds around them, as well as the Mora, to reinstate their council, and the free use of their abilities.

Za’Sahar’s rise within the royal family was not one of ease, nor notice. They moved in shadow amongst their brethren. A child of many, the children of the royal bloodline were often unnoticed, sent to be taught, with their power harnessed. All Durnites were imbued with mora from birth, gifted with basic time and space abilities like foresight, and the ability to heal but, many did not ascend further than that. Despite the mage-like qualities of their people, not all were meant to practice the dark arts of Janda, and those children were often cast aside, disowned, or utilized as tools and nothing more. Za’Sahar was one of two siblings capable of Janda mastery, often choosing mental focus and meditation over meals and rest in order to push the boundaries of their own abilities. Through blood, sweat, and strain, they ascended from their family’s expectations, harnessing the ability to literally pull the fabric of reality between their fingers and twist it to their making. Za’Vanir was a mere shadow to Za’Sahar, able to master the dark arts of Janda but, unable to emit the same mental command as their sibling. Whilst an act of changing someone’s fate could be done at the snap of a finger for Za’Sahar, it took a great deal of energy from Za’Vanir, something they chose to hide from their teachers but, unable to hide from their sibling.

Za’Sahar desired power, and the ability to rule over the time-space mora above all. Seeing Za’Vanir’s strain but, knowing the capable of their abilities, Za’Sahar chose to embrace their sibling, keeping them close, like a shadow, or mirror reflection. Za’Sahar encouraged their sibling, aiding them in furthering their mental guards, and strengthen their state of wakeful sleep to produce an alteration outcome yet, show no stress in return. Za’Vanir admired Za’Sahar for this, having once believed the two were in direct competition with one another in order to succeed in the dark arts but, was relieved to know their sibling was gracious and helpful. Under the false security and smiles, Za’Sahar’s confidence in their sibling’s abilities grew as the years passed. And it was only a matter of time before one day Za’Sahar would see their consciousness combine so Za’Sahar could become the sole practitioner of Janda to control the alteration of existence, whether by construction or destruction.

The success of the Royal siblings brought great pride to the Durnites, and the Royal Family and as the eldest of the two siblings, Za’Sahar, was appointed as representative to attend the calling of the Octoron on behalf of Durn Cylex A, while their sibling was to be a secondary representative on behalf of the Durnite people – a shadow of agreement for Za’Sahar’s ultimate goal.
